Freedom, What Freedom? Part II

Freedom, What Freedom? Part II
by Victor Gerhard
Vice-Chairman, White Revolution

“Ignorance of the law is no excuse”, our government tells us. OK. How about when there are a million laws? Two million? And ten million lesser bureaucratic rules? And twenty million regulations? State laws, rules and regulations? County laws, rules and regulations? Town laws, zoning laws, ordinances, traffic laws? Ignorance is no excuse? Even when almost all of the rules and regulations were created by unelected bureaucrats?

And what about precedent set by courts? Those are laws and also are established by what are, essentially, unelected bureaucrats.

Even regular laws, federal and state especially, were made, except for a handful, without the knowledge and consent of citizens. Almost all rules and regulations, federal and state, were made without the knowledge and consent of citizens. All court precedent is made without the knowledge and consent of citizens.

So, how can anyone say we live in a “democracy” ? In a democracy the citizens rule, don’t they?

“But we have elections”, say our ruling class. See, every four years, you get to pull one lever, to chose between two almost identical candidates for President. You get to choose every six years for Senator. And every two years for Congress. Based on these rare elections, between two almost identical candidates, our ruling class maintains that we have given our consent to their dictates. Millions and millions of dictates.

What about our current Presidential election? McCain says he has “experience”. Obama says he is for “change”. Nothing about the millions of federal laws, rules, regulations and court precedent. So this is the wonderful “democracy” we have. The democracy we are forcing at gunpoint on the rest of the world. Serbia, Iraq, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, the whole Middle East and on and on. “Democracy and freedom” or be destroyed. (Notice how cowardly our government is; they will not dare challenge China, one of the truly unfree countries in the world, and a country that enables dictatorships all over the world; China, you see, buys US Treasury Bonds that keeps the US government afloat.)

Why do I have a suspicion that an inhabitant in a small village in, say, Syria, has more freedom to do, think and say what he wants than a similar inhabitant in America? Do you think he is punished, fired or attacked in any way if he says he doesn’t like another ethnic group, religion or group of sexual deviants? Does his government deliberately flood his country with illegal immigrants or untaxed foreign goods, all of which would destroy his job, family and village? Or does his government in fact operate with the economic interests of Syria first or foremost? Does his government force his children to learn about the lives and cultures of foreigners, of his enemies? Or does his government instead teach Syrian customs and values, and about the lives of Syrian heroes and their culture? But America, we are told, is free, and Syria is unfree.

If you want to see America’s supposed freedom in action, just go visit your local airport and try to get on a plane. First, at the ticket counter the girl basically asks you if you have a bomb in your luggage. You must clearly and seriously say “no”. Try some other answer making fun of the ridiculous question. Some response like, “sure, and it explodes if anyone farts”. The girl will call security and you’ll be handcuffed and questioned, if not arrested, and probably banned for life from the airport and airline. While every single person involved knew you were making a joke. What freedom?

Then, if you get past the serious questions test, you’re up for airport security. A metal detector, sure. Then the metal wand. What’s the problem with that? Well, I was in an airport and an old man in a wheelchair was pushed through the detector. This was an old guy, a White guy, maybe a WWII veteran. To the apparent shock of the security guards the wheelchair set off the metal detector. They pulled the man out of the chair and laid him on the dirty airport floor and worked him over with the metal wand. This is what happens to a White, ancient, undoubtedly 100% American citizen. He’s treated worse than a dark, wild-eyed, non-citizen Paki, swathed in dirty rags and mumbling over a Koran. You can’t discriminate in America, here we’re free. I was so shocked at what I was witnessing I pulled out a camera and started taking pictures. I was quickly told by the security guards that pictures weren’t allowed in a “secure” area. Can’t take pictures of a blatant violation of rights - what freedom? Next, the shoe test. You must take off your shoes and show them to a guard. Now, this guard has become a federal employee. You are forced to take your shoes off. This is an illegal search if there ever was one. Where is the warrant? I watched people sit down like sheep and take off their shoes without a thought. Nary a grumble. Next, I saw a blonde, White woman and her young teenage daughter pulled out of line. Two Mexicans were pawing them over, supposedly searching them for contraband, explosives I guess. This I couldn’t take, I stepped out of line and pointed at the “search.” “Do you see what’s going on,” I said, “do you see this”? Everyone turned away and pretended not to see. And the killer is, none of this will ever prevent terrorism. Any terrorist knows exactly what the guards are searching for and knows how to avoid it.

All of this is merely window dressing, for two purposes. First, to assuage fears of terrorism, to make it look like the government is actually doing something to make us safer. Second, and most importantly, to condition us to even more violations of our rights. There is a little trick the government uses to help further this purpose. Every once in a while, an important government official will be stopped and “questioned.” It will be breathlessly reported in the news. One time I think it was John Glenn. This is a scam. It allows the government to say, “see, everyone has to go through the hassle”. How did John Glenn ever end up on some special government list? How did the security people not recognize John Glenn? It is all a lie, a set up by government to try and put a lid on dissent.

Where is the outrage? What the hell has happened to us? What would Daniel Boone do if asked by a government official to take off his shoes or lay on the ground? George Washington? Patrick Henry? JEB Stuart? Robert E. Lee? Teddy Roosevelt? George Wallace? Where did those people go? What have we become?
